Leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller has dominated the 2016 Parramatta Cup field after confirming three of his stable stars including Beyond Thankful.

A strong and consistent performer for Waller in 2015, Beyond Thankful ran fourth in the Listed Premier’s Cup (1800m) before taking out each of the Listed Wyong Cup (2080m) and Group 3 Newcastle Gold Cup (2300m).

Returning to the paddock after failing to figure in the Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m), the Whipper gelding resumed this time for a credible fifth in the Gardenia Handicap (1600m) at Randwick a fortnight ago and is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from the run.

Gai Waterhouse will launch a two-pronged attack on the Listed race after confirming both Café Society and Hippopus in the 2016 Parramatta Cup field.

A strong and consistent performer in Europe prior to his purchase and transfer to the care of Waterhouse, Café Society debuted in Australia for eighth in the Perfection Fresh Handicap (1500m) in June last year before immediately returning to the paddock.

Failing to make much of an impact through three spring starts, the Motivator gelding has trialled well in the lead-up to his competitive return and will leave from the rails draw in the Parramatta Cup with Jason Collett aboard.

Hippopus was unable to make much of an impact during a short 2015 campaign but returned this time for a competitive fourth in the McGrath Estate Agents BM91 (1500m) on January 30th, and should relish a step up to 1900m on Saturday.

Hawkesbury-based trainer Jason Attard has been pleased with the form and class displayed by Kellyville Flyer this time and has confirmed the mare in the 2016 Parramatta Cup field.

Posting a commendable four wins and seven minors through 21 career starts so far, Kellyville Flyer charged home to win the Bowermans Furniture BM72 (1600m) at Warwick Farm on December 23rd before making a competitive transition to black type company when third in the Group 3 Belle Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) on January 8th.

Having since finished second in each of the More Than Ready @ Vinery BM78 (1600m) and Colin Tidy Tribute BM78 (1600m), the Oratorio mare appears to be searching for more distance and could very well receive the run of the Parramatta Cup from the ideal barrier 2.
